Last Thursday September 10th, iYellow Wine Club’s Get Knotty was the place to be on Queen Street West. The city was buzzing all day with the arrival of the annual Toronto International Film Festival and what better way to celebrate it with a glass of vino!
Last Thursday September 10th, iYellow Wine Club’s Get Knotty was the place to be on Queen Street West. The city was buzzing all day with the arrival of the annual Toronto International Film Festival and what better way to celebrate it with a glass of vino!By 8:30pm the small art gallery was filled with women and men sipping, socializing and getting knotty. Shingleback’s “Black Bubbles” Sparkling Shiraz was the first treat of the night poured by iYellow Founder Angela Aiello who greeted guests as they entered the main door. The garnet-coloured wine had the perfect hint of sweetness and an aroma of delicious blackcurrant and spice. It was a huge hit among the crowd.
Get Knotty, an event presented by iYellow Wine Club and Lifford Wine Agency, featured 6 wines to taste throughout the evening. After the Black Bubbles, a delicious and refreshing Santi Pinot Grigio was poured into your glass and was the only wine poured from the Santi winery in Veneto Italy. This lightly coloured wine was rich in exotic fruit flavours and aromas and was definitely considered to be easy drinking.
The event also featured the talented winemaker John Davey. Davey makes wine for the Davey Family Estate Winery located in the McLaren Vale region in South Australia. The Red Knot and Shingleback, Shirazes and Cabernets were the next wines for the evening. The Red Knot wines were medium bodied, deep red wines with elegant berry aromas. The Shingleback wines were full-bodied wines with chocolate all over them. Though all the wines were devoured with pleasure, guests really developed a crush for Australia’s signature grape, Shiraz, which seemed to go down well with everyone!
iYellow Wine Club members also had the opportunity to admire the unique art works of Thrush Homes Empire and listen to the hip sounds of DJ Dinamo. This was the perfect place to meet new people, catch up with old friends, or treat a co-worker to a fun night out. One guest compared her experience to that of a Sex and the City moment with her girlfriends – a fabulous opportunity to dress up, drink and spend time with people you care about – not to mention catch up on some good old-fashioned gossip. The music was just the right volume and the atmosphere was vibrant and tasteful. With the sexiest crowd in town, VIP Winemakers, and amazing wines, what more could you ask for?
